Manufacturer supplied Wifi Dongles are the most cost effective solution and are fairly reliable. These dongle connect to the USB, HDMI, VGA or a special LAN port depending on the manufacturer eg. Benq, Epson, Optoma, Viewsonic, NEC etc.

Setup is fairly easy. Insert the dongle in the projector, install the software/app on your computer,  establish a WiFi connection between your computer/laptop and the WiFi dongle in the projector, select the SSID that corresponds to the WiFi dongle from the list of available WiFi networks on your computer.

Major concerns using this technology are limited coverage area, other wireless signals effecting transmission, requirement of existing active wifi network, video streaming might not work seamlessly.

Wireless HDMI Kit

Wireless HDMI Kits are available from most projector manufacturers as well as other technology companies like EZCast, Iogear, Barco etc. They comprise of a sender and receiver unit and mostly use Wireless Home Digital Interface (WHDI), WiGig or similar technology that are capable of transmitting uncompressed 1080p resolution video with near zero delay to the receiver unit. 

Setup is fairly easy. Connect the transmitter to the HDMI port of your computer, Insert the Receiver unit into the HDMI port of your projector. Install software/app on your computer and simply click connect. Wifi network is not required. 

Although slightly expensive than Wireless dongle they offer better coverage, are not dependent on Wifi network, transmit full HD video streaming with no major delay and can be used with any projector with HDMI port.
